The Team

The team at SCA Exam Prep comprises a group of outstanding facilitators with a keen interest in helping trainees prepare both for the exam and real-life general practice. All of us are RCGP SCA examiners as well as experienced educators, contributing extensive knowledge and expertise to our courses. Our role is pivotal in establishing a supportive and interactive learning atmosphere for our course participants.

Through a significant focus on practical skills during our courses, we enhance trainees' communication skills and clinical reasoning. We are committed to promoting a comprehensive approach to improving consulting skills with the aim of equipping trainees to excel in their future careers.


Dr Jo Vila

Examiner

Jo Vila is a GP partner and trainer in a large practice in Leeds. She is a current SCA examiner as well as being involved in GP training as a TPD. She has taught and run numerous consulting skills and examination preparation courses for GP trainees as well as doing small group and individual work with trainees in preparation for the exam.


Joanna Vila

Dr Natalie Hodgson

Examiner

Dr Natalie Hodgson is a GP trainer in Leeds. She has been a Training Programme Director for over a decade. She is also an examiner with the RCGP and was appointed to the role of Lead Examiner for the SCA in 2023.

Natalie particularly enjoys teaching consultation skills and working with trainees preparing for the SCA helping them to succeed in their journey to become an independent GP.



Dr Clare Hyland

Examiner

Dr Clare Hyland is a GP Partner and has been a GP Trainer for over 15 years and a RCGP Examiner for nearly 10 years. She is also a FY2 Trainer and works in the medical school at the University of Leeds as well as leading numerous educational sessions for pharmacists and paramedics.

She is a GP and Responsible Officer Appraiser and has a keen interest in teaching and training especially around the SCA.
